Charles Thomas Caldecott, retired pay, late 76th Regiment, of Holbrook Grange, Rugby, died on the 1st inst. at Whitehall Court, S. W., aged 79.\ Col. Caldecott obtained his commission as Ensign in the 76th Regiment April 4, 1851, and was promoted to Lieutenant Aug. 11, 1854, and to Captain March 1, 1860. He became Major May 9, 1872; Lieutenant-Colonel Nov. 10 1877; and retired with the hon. rank of Colonel Nov. 1, 1879. Col. Caldecott, who was the elder brother of Major-Gen. F. J. Caldecott, C.B., was a J.P. and D.L. for Warwickshire.} |
