\f0\fs24 \cf0 The Council of the Bedford Literary and Scientific Institute and General Library at a meeting on Wednesday place on record their sense of the great loss the Institution had sustained by the death, on 23rd April, 1929, of Mrs. Sophia Anthony, who for many years had been a subscriber and had generously and constantly served the Library in many ways, notably on the Book Committee, and in the oversight of the Ladies\'92 Room. The Council conveyed to the family their deep sympathy in the loss they and the Library had sustained.}

The funeral look place Friday of the late Mrs. Sophia Anthony, widow of tin. late Mr. John Lilley Anthony, of Harpurhey \'94, Kimbolton Road, Bedford, whose death was reported in last week\'92s Bedfordshire Times. The service, which was held at Bunyan Meeting, was taken by the Rev. C. Bernard Coekett. who referred to the life and character of Mrs. Anthony and to her associations with that church. The chief mourners were : Miss Anthony, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Anthony. Prebendary Alfred Caldecott, Mr. W. Brookes. Mr. J. Rogers, Mrs. Gerald Anthony, Miss Allen, and Miss Hilda Allen. Among the large number of mourners and sympathizers present at the service were Mr. and Mrs. S. Biss, Mr. and Mrs. Gude. Mr. and Mrs. Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Steven, Mr. ami Mrs. Banks. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Walker. r. W. Covington, Mr. G. H. Stoncbridge, Mr. A. Braggins, Misses Goodman, Miss Bowkcr, Mrs. Newton, and Mr. Greenshields. After the service the interment took place at the Bedford Cemetery, where the Rev. C. B. Cockett officiated. Flowers were sent by: Emilino, Randolph, Louie, anil John: Ethel. John, and Marian; and Mrs. Alfred Caldecott. Miss F. G. Caldecott and Miss A. G. Caldecott; Clement, Frances, and Eleanor; Joan and Kathleen; Dorothy; Herbert and Doris; the five grandsons at Worcester; Mr. and Mrs. William Brooks (Altrincham): Mr. and Mm. Ronald Case; the Minister. Deacons, and Finance Committee of Bunyan Meeting; Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Walker; Mrs. Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Porter: Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Steven; Mr. and Mrs. S. Biss; Mr. and Mrs. Gude; Mr. and Mrs. Sellar; Mrs. Darlington (Whitchurch). Mr. and Mrs. Miss Bowker; Mrs. Nightingale; the Misses Goodman: Miss Bithrey. Mrs. Ballard and family (Ledbury); Pat Marrs; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dewell. The arrangements (or the funeral were in tlie hands of Messrs. E. P. Rose and Bon, Lid.}
