In the Name of God. Amen.
I John Caldecott of Edge in the Parish of Malpas and County of Chester (Husbandman) do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner and form following being of perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God. I Leave and Dispose of my Rights and Effects in form following First I will that my Debts and Funeral Expenses be fully and dearly paid and Discharged according to right and Equity.
I Leave and bequeath to my Son Robert Caldecott now of Horton in the Parish of Tilston and County aforesaid the Sum of Seventeen Pounds Eight Shillings of a Legacy being the remainder part of the Sum formerly had to make the Sum of One hundred pounds.
I Leave and bequeath to my Son John Caldecott of Edge in the parish of Malpas and County aforesaid the Sum of One hundred pounds to be paid at the Age of Twenty One.
Also I Leave and bequeath to my Son Joshua Caldecott of Edge aforesaid the Sum of One hundred pounds to be paid at the Age of Twenty One.
Also I Leave and bequeath to my Son Thomas Caldecott of Edge aforesaid the sum of One hundred pounds to be paid at the Age of Twenty One.
Also I Leave and bequeath to my Son William Caldecott of Edge aforesaid the sum of One hundred pounds to be paid at the Age of Twenty One.
Lastly I Leave and bequeath to my loving Wife Mary Caldecott of Edge aforesaid the Sum of One hundred pounds Also a Bed in the Parlour loft and Six Elm Chairs and a small Chest in the Parlour and another Chest and Drawers in the Parlour loft and a Stand and a Large Corner Cupboard in the Parlour and the House at the Long land next the Bake house now in the holding of John Savage I Leave and bequeath for her life either Sold or not Sold
The Rooms and Remainder of all my Lands Houses and [Hereditaments] also my Homshots Goods Stock of Cattle and all other my Implements of Husbandry which I now have or my have at the Time of my Decease after all are property paid and every particular Values and adjusted according to right also to the four younger Children now living with and to each one a bed and then such One of the aforesaid parties and every particular One to have Equal Shares alike thro the remainder if any be after all fully and dearly paid and discharged if any of the aforesaid younger Children should die before before they come to age the in part to be Equally Divided among the rest.
If my Eldest Son Robert Caldecott like to take all those particulars ? the ? Sons and whatsoever also there unto belongingupon him and pay all Debts and Demands and all other the afore mentioned Lands and personal Estate thereunto belonging now in my posession or also leave it as it now is and to be sold.
I also Leave and bequeath my Eldest Son Robert Caldecott aforesaid and Robert Caldecott of the Parish of Shocklach and County aforesaid to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I do hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Twelfth Day of April in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight.
